Since primordial times the labyrinth was a metaphor for the soul. At birth the human enters the labyrinth, following the path to spiritual enlightenment.

Labyrinth pathways always fold back upon themselves known as the “great turning” and the “little turning”. These are the initiation points on the journey. The centre of the labyrinth is the final goal, the reconnection to the Cosmic consciousness where the soul achieves full knowledge and after death, the spirit is reborn.

The image of the mother and child is universal. On this sculpture she sits Buddha like on a labyrinth in full wisdom, knowing her role. She sits within a flame beneath a shining star in honour of the Female, the Mother, the Giver of Life.
